The Bakersfield, Calif., native survived both stages of qualifying to earn a first U.S. Open start. Opened with a 68 at Pasatiempo Golf Club in local qualifying and then shot 5-under 137 at Dallas Athletic Club to garner one of the nine available spots. Shah turned professional in 2015 after playing collegiately at UCLA. He played one season at UC San Diego (2010-11) before transferring to UCLA, where he competed from 2011-15. He sat out the 2011-12 season due to NCAA rules (before the transfer portal). Has toiled on the Korn Ferry Tour. He also has played one event on the PGA Tour as well as events on PGA Tour Americas and PGA Tour Canada. Originally thought about going to medical school but changed majors at UCLA to political science and international relations. Shah can speak three languages besides English: Hindi, Spanish and Gujurati.
