Qualified for his fifth U.S. Open by shooting 8-under 132 at Springfield (Ohio) Country Club. Rallied for a second-round 61 in the 36-hole event. Hardy made the cut in his U.S. Open debut in 2015 as a 19-year-old (T-52). That year, Hardy was named the Big 10 Freshman of the Year after sharing the Big 10 Conference title for the University of Illinois. Hardy won the Big 10 title again in 2018 before turning professional later that year. Since then, he has split time on the PGA and Korn Ferry tours. In April, he teamed with two-time U.S. Junior Amateur runner-up Davis Riley to capture the Zurich Classic of New Orleans for both players' first PGA Tour victory. He finished tied for 14th in the 2022 U.S. Open at The Country Club.
