F-21: Top 60 points leaders and ties in the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 18
The Chico, Calif., native will make his fifth U.S. Open start by being among the top 60 of the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 28. Kitayama broke through for his first PGA Tour win in March 2023 when he captured the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, and then followed by claiming the 3M Open in Minnesota two years later. Since turning professional in 2015, Kitayama has bounced around various tours, but finally earned his PGA Tour card by finishing third in the 2021 Korn Ferry Tour Finals. He has toiled on the Korn Ferry Tour, Asian Tour and European Tour (now DP World Tour). He owns five professional victories. Two of those wins came on the DP World Tour: the 2018 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open and 2019 Oman Open, the first of which was co-sanctioned with the Asia Tour and Sunshine Tour. Kitayama played for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas from 2011-15.
