Poston, a Hickory, N.C., native who now resides in Saint Simons Island, Ga., will make his second U.S. Open start after being No. 68 in the Official World Golf Ranking as of the close of entries on Aug. 23. He was one of eight players added to the all-exempt field. His only previous U.S. Open appearance came in 2017 at Erin Hills, where he missed the cut. In 2019, the Western Carolina alum broke through for his first PGA Tour victory by winning the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C. As an amateur, Poston won six times at Western Carolina, including the 2014 Southern Conference Championship.
