Final Qualifying: Shot 70-68 at Dallas (Texas) Athletic Club (Gold and Blue Courses) on May 18

The former University of Virginia golfer will play in his first U.S. Open, thanks to shooting 4-under-par 138 at Dallas Athletic Club on May 18. Stanger turned professional in 2017 and has competed on both the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour. His best PGA Tour finish in 2026 is a tie for 26th at the Puerto Rico Open. A native of Tampa, Fla., Stanger posted three victories while at the University of Virginia that included winning the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference title. He also won the 2016 Southern Amateur and advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2016 U.S. Amateur at Oakland Hills Country Club. He also advanced to the Round of 32 in The Amateur Championship at Royal St. George's Golf Club, in England. He represented the U.S. in the 2017 Palmer Cup. Has an adopted sister from the People's Republic of China, Theresa Maylei Stanger, who played college golf at NCAA Division III Wheaton (Ill.) College.
