The former Vanderbilt University standout survived both stages of qualifying to earn his first U.S. Open start. Van Paris medaled at his local qualifier, shooting 66 at Secession Golf Club, in Beaufort, S.C. Then he posted 11-under 128 at Gaston Country Club to earn one of the five available spots. At 14, Van Paris became the youngest player since Bob Jones in 1916 to win a match in the U.S. Amateur, achieving the feat at Pebble Beach in 2018. As a junior golfer, the Pinehurst, N.C., resident organized and hosted the Carolina Cup via the AJGA’s Leadership Links program, with the event raising more than $250,000 for charity. He turned professional in 2025. Through PGA Tour University, he gained access to the Korn Ferry Tour. Van Paris captured two collegiate titles during his four seasons at Vanderbilt. He also won the 2023 Sunnehanna Amateur. In 2024, he made his PGA Tour debut at the Puerto Rico, tying for 10th as an amateur.
