The Little Silver, N.J., resident will make his second U.S. Open start after posting 6-under 136 at the Canoe Brook Country Club final qualifier. Gotterup, a member of the PGA Tour, registered his first title in 2024 when he captured the Myrtle Beach Classic. Gotterup spent his first three collegiate seasons at Rutgers University before transferring to Oklahoma for the 2021-22 season. Not only was he a first-team All-American for the Sooners, but he also won the Fred Haskins Award winner for being the nation's top collegiate golfer. He posted a pair of victories in 12 events in leading the Sooners to the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. His season stroke average was an impressive 69.77. During his time at Rutgers (2017-21), Gotterup earned Big 10 Player of the Year for the 2019-20 season. In 2019, he won the Metropolitan Golf Association Amateur, and he is a past MGA and New Jersey State Golf Association Player of the Year. He won the 2019 New Jersey State Open as an amateur. Gotterup turned professional after the 2021 NCAA Championships. His father, Morten, also is a decorated amateur who has won multiple New Jersey state titles.
