The Spaniard advanced through both stages of qualifying to earn his first U.S. Open start. He posted 10-under-par 132 in final qualifying at Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles, and carded a 68 in his local qualifier at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Ariz. Puig played three seasons for Arizona State University, winning the Southwestern Invitational in consecutive years (2021-22). He helped ASU reach the championship match of the 2022 NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. He also was a member of the International Palmer Cup Teams in 2020 and 2021, posting a 3-1 record. Puig turned professional in 2022. Before arriving at ASU, he was a member of the 2018 European Junior Ryder Cup Team.
