The former University of Tennessee standout qualified for his first U.S. Open after surviving a 6-for-1 playoff at the Dallas Athletic Club for the last spot. Surratt posted a 3-under-par 139 in the 36-hole event. He turned professional in 2024 after 1.5 semesters at Tennessee. He is still seeking his first professional win. Surratt advanced to the championship match of the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur at Bandon Dunes, losing to Wenyi Ding. In 2022, Surratt carded a second-round 64 in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship on the PGA Tour to makethe cut. He earned an exemption by winning the Elite Amateur Series. Besides his Junior Amateur run in 2021, he won the Terra Cotta Invitational, the Western Junior and the Boy's Junior PGA Championship. In 2022, he defended his Terra Cotta title and won the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley. At Tennessee, he was named the 2022 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year, while garnering first-team All-America honors. Surratt became the first freshman to win the SEC title since Justin Thomas a decade earlier. He also represented the USA in the 2023 Walker Cup Match at St. Andrews. That same year, he was on the U.S. Palmer Cup Team.
