The Fairfax, Va., native and rising University of Virginia senior qualified for his first U.S. Open by posting 3-under 139 at Woodmont Country Club's North Course, and then surviving a 3-for-2 playoff against a pair of LIV golfers. He is the second member of the 2025 NCAA runner-up Cavaliers to qualify for the U.S. Open, joining All-American Ben James. Lee helped Virginia win a pair of matches in the NCAA Championship before the team lost to Oklahoma State in the title match. Along with James, he tied for sixth in the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, but then helped lead UVA to the team title. Lee was the runner-up in the 2024 Northeast Amateur, losing in a playoff. He also qualified for match play at the 2022 U.S. Junior Amateur.
