The Louisiana State rising junior will make his first U.S. Open start after posting 9-under-par 135 at the Lakes Golf & Country Club, in Westerville, Ohio. Sveinsson will represent the International side in the upcoming Palmer Cup at Tralee in the Republic of Ireland after playing in the event last year in South Carolina. Currently No. 18 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, Sveinsson advanced to the Round of 64 in the 2025 U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club. He also won a collegiate tournament this past season and was runner-up in another. He also represented Continental Europe in the St. Andrews Trophy last summer. In 2025, he tied for fourth in the NCAA Amherst (Mass.) Regional. In 2024, he won The Blessings Collegiate Invitational and reached the Round of 16 of The Amateur Championship.
